Fishing in the Metro East

Gone Fishing!: The Metro East is conveniently located next two major rivers and encompasses several natural and man-made lakes and ponds; enough to keep even the most avid fisher occupied. From Madison County, IL, where you can fish along the banks of the Mississippi River at Chouteau Island. Or, if you prefer fishing on calmer waters, there is Silver Lake in Highland, IL, an approximately 550-acre lake surrounded by nature trails and other outdoor park amenities.

St. Clair County is also home to several popular fishing destinations, like the Kaskaskia River, Peabody River King State Fish and Wildlife Area, and Baldwin State Fish and Wildlife Area. And, of course, you can also find a selection of fishing ponds and lakes within many of the local parks located throughout the region, such as Foley Park in Belleville, IL.
